Long affiliated with BMW, Max Martin recently came into the fold Aston Martin, evolving with the English brand in WEC or in the various customer teams in GT3, notably at R-Motorsport in GT World Challenge Europe.
But it is a new hat that the Belgian driver will wear next year, by launching his own structure Martin Racing Team, in association with Thomas Matton, “senior” mechanic at BMW in DTM, within the RBM stable.
The new team will begin in 2020 with the GT4 level, and will logically operate two Aston Martin Vantages in the GT4 European Series and ADAC GT4 championships.
« I've been thinking about creating my team for a while, evokes the neo-boss. I'm not close to finishing my own career, but I wanted to start a business that could grow and I wanted to be part of something that allowed me to give something back to my sport.
GT racing, and in particular GT4, has become incredibly popular with young drivers new to the sport, comments the neo-boss. Together with my partner Thomas Matton, we have the experience to develop these talents through this team and we have great ambitions for the future.
I have driven and contributed to the development of the customer car, so I understand it well. But I also think the Vantage GT4 is among the best. It's a real race car and Aston Martin is a big brand with a lot of interest, so it's the perfect car to start with. »
The team will be based near Charleroi airport, near Brussels.
Delighted and proud to announce Martin Racing Team, the new team I've formed with my best mate Thomas Matton. We'll be racing @AMR_Official Vantage GT4s @gt4series and ADAC GT4. Follow our adventures at https://t.co/hkegQ4w9Wy pic.twitter.com/tX9UgKpM4U
