Moreau: “My future is in endurance”

After following a typical route in car, Formula Renault 2.0, Formula 3 Euro Series then Formula Renault 3.5, by winning in each category, Guillaume Moreau turned completely to endurance.

A first opportunity in 2007 at the wheel of a Courage LMP1 in the Le Mans Series and 24 Hours of Le Mans had inoculated him with the virus. In 2008, his first season at the controls of the Corvette C6.R of Luc Alphand Aventures ended with a title in the Le Mans Series. For this new season, Guillaume Moreau is abandoning single-seaters to concentrate on Grand Touring and winning the FIA GT world title: “I showed my qualities in single-seaters. I rode with Hamilton, Hag and Sutil and I got on podiums with them. Despite this, it would be illusory to believe that the doors of the F1 were going to open on their own. Everyone has their own destiny. Today, I have the feeling that my future lies in endurance. I am convinced that this is the discipline of the future. The programs presented in recent months have only strengthened my state of mind. »

In this new quest, Guillaume Moreau will be accompanied by the Dutchman Xavier Maassen: “It’s a logical continuation. With a title in our first season in the Le Mans Series, I wanted to go further. The World Championship is a formidable challenge. Despite the difficult economic context, we were able to set up an ambitious program with Luc Alphand Aventures. Xavier already has experience in FIA GT, which he already competed in 2008 and where he won with a Corvette. He is a fast, consistent and very professional driver. »

“This program is very motivating,” continues Guillaume. “Unlike last season, we will really fight for the overall victory in FIA GT. I know that the team, the car and us? the pilots ? we are capable of winning. From this observation, I cannot have any other objective than victory, one of the first three places in the championship, or even the title! During our first tests at Portimao, we were already on pace with the Maseratis. I am not worried about the reliability of the car, which is one of the strengths of Luc Alphand Aventures, nor about our top speed. I know I have to work a lot on the driver changes which should only last fifteen seconds. I'm going to spend some time training with Xavier. The management of FIA GT races, which are two-hour sprints, will also be crucial and we are counting on Xavier?s experience in this area. »

First elements of response upon arrival at Silverstone on May 3.
