The Coca-Cola 600 NASCAR scheduled for this Sunday in Charlotte, has been postponed to Monday 15:00 p.m. local time, 21:00 p.m. French time. The 14th race of the Cup Series season is also the longest on the calendar with 600 miles (965,40 km) on the program.

All of the practice sessions and races on Saturday had already been disrupted due to bad weather affecting North Carolina. In addition to the cancellation of Cup Series qualifying, the Xfinity Series race, NASCAR's second division, had been postponed. Initially scheduled for 11:00 a.m. (18:00 p.m. French time), the race could see its schedule change during the day to give officials time to set up the main race.

In the absence of qualifying, William Byron inherited the pole position at the wheel of his No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet.

This is the second time this season that a Cup Series race has been postponed to Monday after the Dover event at the end of April which was won by Martin Truex Jr., his first victory since 2021. A rain pack including tread tires and windshield wipers has been available for 2 seasons but remains reserved for road races and short tracks in very light rain. If we can always be surprised that a few drops of rain cause the postponement of a race, we must understand that on a 1,5 mile (2,41 km/h) oval such as Charlotte it is impossible for a racing car to travel at more than 300 km/h on a wet surface.

The 2022 edition of the Coca Cola 600 was won by Denny Hamlin, his first victory during the prestigious race held on the American Memorial Day weekend.
