It’s an unusual racing incident to say the least! During a race Nascar Trucks, organized on the sidelines of the Nascar rounds, on the Bristol City track, Matt DiBenedetto and Austin Wayne Self were forced to retire after seeing their two trucks collide for good. Unheard of in a discipline that is accustomed to this kind of contact!

Even the commentators can't believe it

However, this is not a discipline where drivers are used to getting things right. Even more so on a track as demanding and delicate as that of Brisol City, whose asphalt is covered with dirt before each race. However, in the third segment of a four-segment race, Austin's Wayne Self Chevrolet was overtaken by DiBenedetto's truck, while the two protagonists fought for a top 10. The driver of the No. 22 s he then approaches his competitor in the No. 25, and on a contact which at first glance seems harmless, the rear bumper of DiBenedetto's truck and the front bumper of Self collide. But for good!

The two pilots are then obliged to stop their effort. And despite the intervention of security vehicles and a tow truck – which tries to dislodge the two trucks by hitting DiBenedetto's – nothing will help. The race of the two drivers is well and truly ruined, they will finish in 35th and 36th places in this Nascar Trucks race at Bristol City, which could nevertheless allow them to score big points. Bad luck.

“This is the strangest incident I have ever witnessed. concedes Austin Wayne Self. It seemed like a completely normal contact, as you could see, we interlocked at the exit of number 4. I think we must have been stuck for at least 15 minutes (laughs). I've been on the show for a while, I've never seen anything like this. Even if we had wanted to do it on purpose, we wouldn’t have succeeded…”

When we tell you that there is no point in putting pressure on the car in front at a red light! Proof by example.
