Chase Elliott gets his revenge in Charlotte

Forget the disappointment of the Coca-Cola 600. Chase Elliott (Hendrick Motorsports – Chevrolet) found his way to victory last night in Nascar Cup SeriesEdit, by winning on the oval of Charlotte (North Carolina), an event replacing the race in Sonoma (California), due to calendar changes in the face of the coronavirus pandemic.

Leading the Coca-Cola 600 with two laps to go last Sunday, Elliott saw victory slip away from him after a yellow flag at the very end of the race, but this time gave his rivals no chance.

Moved to the front on lap 181 against Kevin Harvick (Stewart-Haas Racing – Ford), Elliott controlled the end of the race to win with more than 2″ ahead of Denny Hamlin (Joe Gibbs Racing – Toyota) and Ryan Blaney (Team Penske – Ford).

Note that the event was postponed from Wednesday to Thursday due to the weather, and was interrupted more than an hour after 75 laps, with storms threatening over the region.
