Hélary recalls good memories of the Racecar

Eric Hélary took time to get his bearings in the difficult exercise of racing on an oval, but the reigning champion was able to respond very well for the second Racecar race on the Tours oval. Only 15th in the Saturday race won by Ben Kennedy, the great-grandson of Bill France Sr, the Still Racing driver quickly got to the front and overtook the leaders one by one to win and prove that he deserves his place in the race Nascar contested in the USA rewarding him for his title won last year. “Alone on the track during testing, I found it hard to imagine being able to have so much fun racing”, admits the winner. “As I gained more laps I learned to improve the relationship I had with my spotter and it was an interesting experience. »

The podium looks great since Ander Vilarino, the leader of the Championship, takes second place and thus takes the victory points, Eric Hélary not competing in the Championship this year. The Spaniard further widens his lead in the Drivers' standings since Romain Thiévin only takes tenth place and Javier Villa is content with 15th position. The third step on the podium went to Yvan Muller who knew how to be patient and avoid collisions to climb into the top three with two laps to go against Willy Boucenna who won the Junior category. The top five is completed by Antoine Lioen.
