The weeks pass and things are not getting better for Kurt Busch. Victim of a concussion during qualifying in Pocono (Pennsylvania) on July 23, the Las Vegas native still feels the after-effects of his exit from the track. Package immediately for the race the next day but also in Indianapolis and Michigan, the 23XI Racing driver has still not been deemed fit to put the suit back on.
Always closely scrutinized by the medical teams of the Nascar, Kurt Busch notably mentioned a slower recovery than expected. “ Recovery from head injury does not always follow a linear path, underlines the person concerned. I'm feeling good about my recovery, but this week I've been pushing to get my heart rate and body into a race-simulating environment but it's clear and clear that I'm not ready to get back in a race car.
This was by far the hardest week emotionally because I feel the recovery progressing, but racing requires extreme physical and mental effort, and my body is not able to handle these intense conditions 100%. I am progressing and giving my all every day. I am encouraged by my medical team, and we will continue to do whatever it takes to make sure I am 100% ready to return to competition.."

Ty Gibbs called to the rescue
To overcome this 4e consecutive package of Kurt Busch on the Toyota Camry N°45, 23XI Racing did not rack its brains. Michael Jordan's team has once again called on young Ty Gibbs to the rescue, he who replaced his counterpart at Pocono, Indianapolis and more recently at Michigan where he obtained his best result in the Cup Series (10e).
In Richmond, the young 19-year-old driver will have another busy weekend as he will compete in the Xfinity Series round in which he is 3e in the championship in parallel with that of the Cup Series.
