American SpeedFest strengthens its ties with the NASCAR with the presence of the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 NASCAR Next Gen entered in the Centennial edition of 24 Hours of Le Mans at Brands Hatch on June 17-18. This major attraction of the SpeedFest weekend joins an exciting on-track lineup headlined by the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series, NASCAR demonstrations and numerous support races.

This Next Gen Chevrolet competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans just one week before American SpeedFest on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the most prestigious endurance race in the world. Seven-time Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson shared the wheel of the American car with world champion Formula 1 2009 Jenson Button and two-time 24 Hours of Le Mans winner Mike Rockenfeller. The Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 NASCAR Next Gen Garage 56 has been specially adapted to participate in the Le Mans double clock race. It was the first time that a NASCAR car had entered the Mulsannes since 1976 and the participation of a Ford Torino and a Dodge Charger.

A dedicated Garage 56 exhibit will showcase the car on static display in a bespoke Fan Zone at SpeedFest, allowing spectators to get up close and personal with this unique machine. Jérôme Galpin, president of the NWES, is delighted: “It is an honor to present this car to the British public, one of the best for the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series over the last ten years. The car and its participation in the 24 Hours of Le Mans are the perfect tools to put NASCAR in the spotlight in Europe and highlight the direct link with the official European NASCAR series. I am sure that fans will once again appreciate the spectacle offered by EuroNASCAR: emotions, close racing, unparalleled access to teams and drivers in a unique American atmosphere. » Chad Seigler, CEO of NASCAR, supports this initiative: “The American SpeedFest at Brands Hatch regularly attracts tens of thousands of fans from across Europe and this year’s 10th anniversary edition will live up to their expectations. We are excited to offer our fans the opportunity to see the NASCAR Next Gen Garage 56 car immediately following the 24 Hours of Le Mans. »

With an exhibition of American cars, a country music festival and Monster Truck demonstrations, all the ingredients are there for a great celebration of automotive passion. Qualifying and all races will be broadcast live on the EuroNASCAR YouTube channel.
