Nascar – Brian Scott takes his first pole at Talladega

Brian Scott (Circle Sport) was the smartest in qualifying for the Aaron's 499 held at Talladega (Alabama) where the new qualifying format was applied for the first time on an oval with restrictor plates. The driver of the No. 33 Chevrolet set the best time of the last session with a time of 48, beating the No. 293 of Paul Menard by less than a tenth and thus won his first pole for his fifth start in the discipline.

Chevrolet achieved a good group shot with the first nine places occupied by the SS. AJ Allmendinger (JTG Daugherty Racing) follows in third ahead of Casey Mears (Germain Racing), Austin Dillon (Richard Childress Racing) and Ryan Newman (Richard Childress Racing).
