Carl Edwards a décroché sa première victoire en portant les couleurs de la Joe Gibbs Racing. Le pilote de la Toyota n°19 s’est imposé au Coca Cola 600 à Charlotte (Caroline du Nord) en bénéficiant d’une bonne stratégie, contrairement à plusieurs des prétendants au succès qui ont dû s’arrêter pour ravitailler.

The 2011 runner-up was not worried in the final laps as he took the checkered flag with a lead of more than 4 seconds over Greg Biffle (Roush Fenway Racing). Dale Earnhardt Jr (Hendrick) completes the top three ahead of Matt Kenseth (Joe Gibbs Racing) and Martin Truex Jr (Furniture Row Racing).
