Nascar – Hamlin finds form at Martinsville

The favorites are at the front on the Martinsville Speedway grid. Denny Hamlin (Joe Gibbs Racing), who has 4 victories on this half-mile oval, improved the lap record (99,595mph) set earlier in the season by Jimmie Johnson (98,400mph). But the driver of the No. 48 Chevrolet was not unworthy since he secured a place on the front row and will be able to aim for a 9th victory on this track. The Joe Gibbs is promising since the 2nd row is occupied by Kyle Busch and Matt Kenseth, Clint Bowyer (Michael Waltrip Racing) completing the top five ahead of Joey Logano (Penske Racing).

Regarding the other Chasers able to fight for the title, Jeff Gordon (Hendrick Motorsport) took 9th position ahead of Kevin Harvick (Richard Childress Racing). Note that the track record was broken for the 18th time this season The Gen 6 cars are making strong progress since no less than 18 drivers have beaten Jimmie Johnson's record set at the start of the year.
