Nelson Piquet Jr returns to the forefront. After his period F1, tainted by the Singapore Crashgate affair with Flavio Briatore and Renault F1, the Brazilian who had already successfully tried his hand at NASCAR in Nationwide, (victory at Road America in 2012), will make its debut in the Sprint Cup on the Watkins Glen circuit next weekend, during the second road race of the season.
It is within Randy Humphrey Racing that the 29-year-old Brazilian will compete on the New York state track. It will also be the team's return this season to starting a race, Dave Blaney having only taken part in four of the fifteen races in which the No. 77 Ford Fusion was entered.
Piquet Jr, who had a full season in Nationwide last year, is playing this season mainly in Rallycross, both in WorldRX (in the RX Lites category), in the Global Rallycross Challenge on the American continent, and in the Blancpain Sprint Series, within the BMW Sports Trophy Team Brasil.
