Martin Truex Jr (Toyota) a remporté sa sixième victoire de la saison en Nascar Cup Series, his fifth on a 1,5 mile oval, and the 13th of his career, winning the Bank of America 500 held at Charlotte Motor Speedway (North Carolina). The Furniture Row Racing resident dominated his opponents despite two late restarts destroying his lead.

“I had trouble at first. I was even struggling to keep the car on the track, but we made some great stops and were able to get back to the front.”, commented the winner.

The driver of the No. 78 Camry qualified for the third phase of the playoffs placed ahead of Chase Elliott (Chevrolet) who finished in second place for the second consecutive time. The Hendrick Motorsport driver is still chasing his first victory in the Nascar Cup Series.

Kevin Harvick (Ford) completed the podium ahead of Denny Hamlin (Toyota) while Jamie McMurray (Chevrolet) finished in the top five. Jimmie Johnson (Chevrolet) moved up to seventh place behind Daniel Suarez (Toyota) after losing time during his final pit stop. Kyle Larson (Chevrolet) completes the top ten after being hurt in the peloton in the final laps.

If Kyle Busch (Toyota) hoped to achieve a third success in a row, the Bank of America 500 was a cross for the 2015 Nascar Cup Series champion. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver spent most of the race with a bruised Camry after hitting the wall and was the cause of several interruptions. He finished in 29th place and lost part of his lead in the ranking of title contenders.
