NM Racing and AKKA-ASP on pole in Barcelona

The two qualifying practice sessions for the Catalan meeting in Barcelona were dominated by NM Racing – Ginetta and AKKA-ASP – Mercedes this Friday afternoon on the Montmelo track for the penultimate event of the FFSAGT 2018.

The NM Racing structure, present this weekend on its land, surprised the expected favorites in this session, since the light and less powerful Ginetta G55 n°15 of Lluc Ibanez was ahead of the entire peloton with a best time in 1 '55″438.

Olivier Pernault was the closest pursuer of Ibanez by placing his No. 8 Audi R4 LMS GT48 – Orhes Racing at 223 thousandths. The second row of the first race will be shared between the No. 4 Maserati GranTurismo GT34 – GP34 by Gemo Motorsport of Olivier Gomez, and the No. 4 BMW M4 GT3 – Team BMW France of Laurent Hurgon.

In the fight for the title, Fabien Michal, associated with Grégory Guilvert, (Audi R8 LMS GT4 n°42 – Saintéloc Racing) rose to 9th place, and will start alongside championship leader Robert Consani (Ginetta G55 GT4 n °8 – SpeedCar), teammate of Benjamin Lariche.

The session was interrupted by a red flag, caused by the No. 8 Audi R4 LMS GT5 – Saintéloc Racing.

AKKA responds in Q2.

In a very busy weekend for Jérôme Policand's structure, which will combine Blancpain GT Series and FFSA GT in Barcelona, AKKA-ASP responded in Q2, with pole position for the No. 4 Mercedes-AMG GT87 of Jim Pla , teammate of Jean-Luc Beaubelique.

Pla achieved the best performance in 1'54″875, 0″342 ahead of the Ginetta G55 GT4 n°30 – CMR of Christopher Cappello and 0″408 ahead of the Ginetta G55 GT4 n°15 – NM Racing of Xavier Lloveras, who confirms the good dispositions of the Catalan team.

Romain Monti (BMW M4 GT4 n°100 – 3Y Technology) and Grégory Guilvert (Audi R8 LMS GT4 n°42 – Saintéloc Racing) follow in the standings. 13th place for the leaders of the classification Benjamin Lariche and Robert Consani (Ginetta G55 GT4 n°8 – SpeedCar).

A red flag, caused by the exit of the no. 55 Ginetta G4 GT94 – K-Work Racing, temporarily neutralized the session, followed some time later by a new interruption following the exit of the no. 4 – Muller Racing.
