Parente, Wittmer and Cooper become official McLaren drivers

McLaren has confirmed Alvaro Parente, Michael Cooper and Kuno Wittmer as official drivers for the Woking brand.

Parente, Wittmer and Cooper become official McLaren drivers

In addition to Ben Barnicoat, Rob Bell, Paul Holton and Joe Osborne, the fold McLaren will see the reinforcement as official drivers for 2019, Alvaro Parente, Michael Cooper and Kuno Wittmer.

Parente is not unknown to the Woking firm, the Portuguese having regularly evolved with the CRS creations (MP412-C then 650S GT3) in recent years. His main achievement with McLaren remains his victory at the 12 Bathurst 2016 Hours with the 650S GT3 – Tekno Autosports shared with Jonathon Webb and Shane van Gisbergen.

Parente's final program has not been revealed, knowing that Sébastien's former teammate Loeb in FIA GT previously competed in Pirelli World Challenge with Bentley and K-Pax Racing.

Michael Cooper and Kuno Wittmer, the latter having driven for BMW in recent years, know part of their program, centered on the United States. Cooper will join the Blackdog Speed ​​Shop 570S GT4 in Pirelli GT4 America, when Wittmer will be seconded to the Compass Racing 570S GT4 in IMSA Michelin Pilot Challenge.

McLaren has also confirmed the integration of Charlie Fagg, Michael O'Brien, Martin Kodrić and Fran Rueda into its new young professionals program. Jordan Collard, James Dorlin, Lewis Proctor and Josh Smith, residents of the McLaren development program, will compete in the British GT on the Tolman Motorsport 570S GT4s.
