Peugeot unveils its 308 Racing Cup

Well established in the landscape of French circuits as part of the GT Tour, the RCZ Racing Cup will soon give way to the new 308 Racing Cup at Peugeot Sport. As we indicated to you in AUTOhebdo n°2023 at the beginning of August, the latest addition to the Lion's competition department, recently completed its first tests at Nogaro in Gers, with Grégory Guilvert at the wheel.

The 1,6 L THP unit, from the 308 GTi by Peugeot Sport, will experience a serious power boost, thanks in particular to the use of the turbo of the 208 T16, since the power currently stands at 308 hp. This engine will be mated to a six-speed sequentially controlled gearbox with paddle shifters. Equipped with a rear wing inspired by WTCC regulations, this edgy 308 should see its total mass between 1000 and 1050 kg.

Available to customers from the end of 2016, it should succeed the RCZ as part of the Promotion Formulas from the following year, but should also be used in endurance as part of the 24H Series races, or even foreign championships such as the German VLN.

Present at the Frankfurt Motor Show (September 17-27), the 308 Racing Cup will be demonstrated during the GT Tour final at Paul Ricard (October 24-25).
