Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific celebrates three years of existence

The April 22, Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific (PMAP) a soufflé sa troisième bougie. L’antenne asiatique du département dédié à la compétition du constructeur allemand permet à Porsche d’augmenter ses ventes dans cette région du monde tout en créant de nouvelles plate-formes pour que les véhicules de compétition puissent rouler.

Created in 2017, PMAP has grown in stature by defending the interests of the parent company within the framework of the FIA GT World Cup in Macau, at the FIA Motorsport Games, but also in Endurance with the GTE class 24 Hours of Le Mans and GT3 the 24 Hours of Spa and the Nürburgring.

PMAP, whose office is located at the Shanghai circuit (China), also helps Asian teams to participate in major competitions such as the Intercontinental GT Challenge and GT World Challenge Asia with 911 GT3 R. The most important reward is came at the start of 2019 with the success of Earl Bamber Motorsport at the Bathurst 12 Hours.

Thailand has also become an important market for PMAP with the Thailand Super Series, a championship which also organizes the Porsche Cayman GT4 Trophy Thailand with 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsports. Finally, the Carrera Cup Asia has continued its journey since 2003.

A journey that has something to make one proud Alexandre Gibot, the Head of PMAP. “Our results far exceeded our expectations. We have reached every level of motor racing, from popular categories to international Grand Touring. We look forward to the future. »

Alexandre Gibot recognizes that the face of Asian motorsport has transformed since the establishment of PMAP. “There are more racing platforms, such as GT World Challenge Asia, China GT and Thailand Super Series that our customers participate in, but they are also sustainable, so they are long-term.

The level of professionalism of local teams is increasing rapidly in all these championships, but particularly in the Intercontinental GT Challenge and the FIA GT World Cup in Macau. »

Finally, the emphasis should be placed in the future on events reserved for Clubsport versions of Porsche vehicles and the quality of the Carrera Cup Asia.. “We want to strengthen the development of Clubsport races by making them more accessible with the Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport and the Porsche 911 GT2 RS Clubsport.

We believe our one-make series is another area we can strengthen, such as the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia which has a new Am category for 2020, while continuing to develop our GT3 competition. But we also want to push customer support with after-sales services to make sure we provide them with the best possible service. »
