Racecar: Eric Hélary champion 2011

Contested in front of 53700 spectators, as a curtain-raiser to the 24 Hours of Trucks, at Le Mans, the Super Final of the Racecar Euro Series kept all its promises. If the Spaniard Ander Vilarino was the fastest this weekend, it is Eric Hélary who is the 2011 grand champion.

Racecar: Eric Hélary champion 2011

With 5 victories this season, which brings his total career success to 70, Eric Hélary becomes a little more legendary and is preparing to compete in a race NASCAR to crown an extraordinary career. In the Open Championship, the fight was very close and it was the young Romain Fournillier who won against Manu Brigand, in the last race of the season. Sprint Elite: Hélary despite Vilarino
Pole sitter Ander Vilarino was on course to win after leading a large part of the race but he suffered a mechanical problem which forced him to retire a few meters from the finish. Victory therefore goes to? Eric Hélary who dominates a furious peloton made up of Romain Thievin, Laurent Fresnais, Romain Iannetta and Steven Palette. With this victory Hélary takes a serious option for the title. Steven Palette finished 6th despite a penalty and confirmed his position as leader of the Junior Trophy just like Antoine Lioen who signed a new top 5 and is getting closer to the Challenger Trophy. Eric Hélary wins at Le Mans, 18 years after his victory in the famous 24 Hours, he thus wins his seventieth career victory.

Sprint Open: Fournillier flies over
Starting from pole position, Romain Fournillier led all laps to win 8 seconds ahead of Vincent Gonneau while Anthony Garbarino, who is competing in his first race in the RACECAR Euro Series, took a very good third place. Romain's strategy was clear: start in front and widen the gap to take cover. He thus regains the lead of the Championship by 10 small points. Behind the leading trio, the battle raged between Gérald Cormon, Emmanuel Brigand, Alain Grand, Tanguy Ide. Gérald Cormon was in great form but a collision with Emmanuel Brigand deprived both men of the podium and valuable points. Philippe Marie won in the Gentleman Trophy and Jérome Laurin in the Legend Trophy.

Endurance Elite: Vilarino wins in the end
Starting from the front row, Ander Vilarino comes out in the lead under the "Dunlop" footbridge after a hot first turn, which saw Hélary, the Championship leader, the victim of a collision. Shock in the public, the car continues on its way and completes 3 laps in slow motion before returning to the stands. Steven Palette, his runner-up in the Championship, cannot take advantage of it and must give up, betrayed by his mechanics. Hélary is therefore officially RACECAR Euro Series Champion 2011!!! In front, Vilarino dominated the race and escaped but received a penalty and had to go through the pits, and it was Kevin Estre, who had come to discover the discipline, who passed under the checkerboard in front of Romain Iannetta, Romain Thievin, Antoine Lioen and Bruno Cosin. But, ultimately, after watching the videos, Vilarino saw his penalty canceled and won. Estre finished first Junior and Lioen first Challenger.

Endurance Open: First for Cormon
Put in a very good position by their teammates, Alain Grand and Gérald Cormon engaged in a duel of great beauty, from which Cormon emerged victorious by only 4 tenths of a second. Vincent Gonneau completes the podium. Romain Fournillier, at the cost of a great comeback, seizes 4th position and wins the OPEN title. His opponent, Manu Brigand, was unable to defend his chances due to the collision of his teammate Hélary at the start of the race. Joaquin Gabarron completes the Top 5 ahead of Jérôme Laurin and Franck Radet.
