Silverstone redistributes the cards

What a first race for Guillaume Moreau and Xavier Maassen! After two hours of racing on the Silvertone ring, the Luc Alphand adventures duo managed to hoist the Corvette Z06 onto the first podium of the 2009 FIA GT season. They finished twenty seconds behind the Maserati MC12 of Bertolini/Bartels, reigning world champions. They are ahead of them by a handful of seconds by the crew of the surprising K plus K team, Wendlinger and Sharp, at the wheel of their S7. The two drivers won the race for the first participation of the Czech team and for the first time at the wheel of a Saleen. They also achieved their second success at Silverstone, the first to achieve this feat since Walkinshaw/Nicholson in 1982.

The Saleen led a large part of the race, despite pressure from the Maserati, which did not admit defeat until the last meters of the race, to finish less than six seconds behind the S7. Behind this podium made up of three different cars, we find the second Corvette, that of Team Pekaracing, driven by Hezemans/Kumpen, and the second Saleen, with Lacko/Dominguez. James Ruffier, European GT3 champion, finished with Bert Longin in sixth place at the wheel of the SRT team's Z06.

En GT2, l?éternel Emmanuel Collard termine, avec Richard Westbrook, à la première place au volant de la Porsche 911 de Prospeed. Ils devancent quatre Ferrari 430, kept clearly at a distance. The Gard team Hexis Racing, with Makowiecki/Mücke, places its Aston Martin in seventh position.
