Spa: Corvette challenges Maserati

With three cars in the first three places on the grid, Maserati and Vitaphone are well placed for the start (16 p.m.) of the 24 Hours of Spa. But Corvette, which placed three cars at the forefront during the Warm up, has not said its last word.

Spa: Corvette challenges Maserati

The turning point of the FIA ​​GT season, the 24 Hours of Spa offers a fierce duel between the Maserati MC 12s and the Corvette C6.Rs. These two ?old generation?? cars made their last appearance in 2009, as a GT1, at the 24 Hours of Spa. The event, from 2010, will be focused on GT2s, with an invitation to GT3 and GT4, but the premier category will desert the Ardennes double round of the clock. The MC 12 and the C6.R, in their current configuration, are also completing their last races in FIA GT, since the future GT1 world championship demands new standards.

It is therefore an anticipated duel which begins at 16 p.m., in the Ardennes, between two cars which are best equipped to win during this legendary event. They arrive especially in numbers, since three Maseratis and three Corvettes take the start, against a single representative for Saleen, Ford and Nissan in the GT1 category.

In GT2, Ferrari the numerical advantage on Porsche, but also on the grid, since two F430s will start side by side, the n°50 from AF Corse and the n°55 from CRS Racing. The first Porsche, the #997 Trackspeed 59, will start in twelfth position on the grid.

The highlight of these 24 Hours of Spa is also the presence of Jacques Villeneuve. The 1997 world champion Formula 1 will drive the Mosler MT 900 (G2 category), Vincent Radermeker starting from 24th position for the Gravity Racing crew.
