Spa-H19: Corvette towards the double

Announced at the start of the race, the Maserati-Corvette duel clearly turned to the advantage of the Americans. If the Italian brand only had one hope of victory, with the No. 2, Corvette could count on the No. 3 and No. 4 cars to contest the final result. After more than 18 hours of racing, all three cars were still on the same lap. Then the No. 2 Maserati, then in the lead, lost a wheel, leaving the lead open to its two rivals. For the second car of the Vitaphone team, it was a failure, the car not being able to reach its stand by its own means. An abandonment which sounds the death knell for Vitaphone's hopes, after the problems encountered by the other two cars. Eric Van de Poele, the Spa 24 Hours specialist, can also say goodbye to a possible sixth victory.

The No. 1 Maserati, in the lead at nightfall, was the victim of an off-track exit, abandoning all hope of victory before attacking the nighttime laps of the circuit. However, the car was able to be repaired and is trying to reach the finish to reward the work of the mechanics. As for #33, it was delayed in its stand following poor handling. Being able to restart, she can save Maserati?s honor by grabbing the podium. But, sixteen laps behind the leading cars, victory is out of reach.

The surprising Audi R8 LMS, at the top of the G2 classification, is in third place in the general classification, attacking the last five hours of the race. Perfectly tuned, the Phoenix Racing team car demonstrates very good reliability. She will have to count on the No. 33 Maserati for the third step on the podium.

In GT2, the Ferrari 430 n°50 from the AF Corse team leads the debates, several minutes ahead of the two Porsche 997, the No. 97 of Brixia Racing and the No. 59 of the Trackspeed team.

In G3, Matech Racing's Ford GT dominates outrageously, six laps ahead of the group.Aston Martin DBRS9 n°172.
