Super GT – Kobayashi and Rosenqvist with Lexus

Lexus – and therefore Toyota – remains on two titles in a row in Super GT, thanks to the duos Heikki Kovalainen-Kohei Hirata (Team Sard) and Ryo Hirakawa-Nick Cassidy (Team Tom'S). But determined to sign the pass of three, decision was made to modify the crews somewhat, in accordance with what we revealed to you around ten days ago (see Ah n°2150).

On the No. 36 operated by Tom'S, Kazuki Nakajima will no longer be supported by James Rossiter, but by Yuhi Sekiguchi, defector from the Bandoh team. The Briton, who replaces André Lotterer at Tom'S in Super Formula, will only be requisitioned for the second round, at Fuji (May 3-4), Nakajima being retained at Spa for the WEC.

Kamui Kobayashi, seen last year at the start of the Suzuka 1000 kilometers, will contest his first full campaign in the series at the wheel of the car fielded by Team SARD, alongside the Finn Heikki Kovalainen, titled in 2016. And this to the detriment, therefore, from Kohei Hirate. For his part, Felix Rosenqvist was made official within Team LeMans, the team whose interests he defended in Super Formula.

The Honda crews having already been revealed, Nissan is the last of the three competitors involved in Super GT to have to reveal its squad.

List of Lexus competitors in Super GT 2018:

Lexus Team Tom'S #1 – Ryo Hirakawa / Nick Cassidy

Lexus Team LeMans #6 – Kazuya Oshima / Felix Rosenqvist

Lexus Team Bandoh #19 – Yuji Kunimoto / Kenta Yamashita

Lexus Team Tom'S #36 – Kazuki Nakajima / Yuhi Sekiguchi

Lexus Team Cerumo #38 – Yuji Tachikawa / Hiroaki Ishiura

Lexus Team SARD #39 – Heikki Kovalainen / Kamui Kobyashi
