Team Schnitzer requisitioned for the development of the BMW M4 GT3

Team Schnitzer will be the leading team in the development of the future BMW M4 GT3, which will replace the current M6 GT3 by 2022, the date of entry into force of the new regulations for the category.

BMW Motorsport has logically requisitioned one of its historic satellite teams to carry out track tests with the future weapon from Munich, Team Schnitzer having immense experience in the category, including success in the FIA ​​GT World Cup in Macau. in 2018 with Augusto Farfus, shortly before the death of team boss Charly Lamm.

“We are delighted to be able to leverage the experience of BMW Team Schnitzer in the upcoming track development of our new BMW M4 GT3, explains Jens Marquardt, director of BMW Motorsport.

As part of the project, the team will supervise on-track testing with the new racing car and provide valuable feedback for subsequent development stages. »

The M4 was chosen as the platform by BMW Motorsport after the validation of the new GT3 2022 regulations, during the last World Motor Sport Council.

In addition to this testing program, Team Schnitzer will remain involved in competition, with a program at the Nürburgring Endurance Series (ex-VLN) and at the 24 Hours of Nürburgring with the current M6 GT3. BMW Motorsport should logically support these commitments with several official drivers.

Team Schnitzer brought BMW's last victory in the Green Hell to date in 2010 with the M3 entrusted to Jörg Müller, Uwe Alzen Augusto Farfus and Pedro Lamy.
