Panis switches to a Cupra and stays with Comtoyou Racing

Aurelien Panis continues his journey in the World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) in 2019. The Frenchman will once again be part of the Comtoyou Racing team, but will change cars, by swapping the Audi RS 3 LMS for a Cupra.

“For my second year, my goal is to aim for the podiums, indicate the winner of the Andros Trophy Super Final at the Stade de France with his father Olivier Panis. We saw last year with Pepe Oriola that the car was very fast on all circuits. » Pepe Oriola finished sixth with a victory.

The boss of the Belgian team, Jean-Michel Baert, confirms the partnership with the Spanish manufacturer with a second car which will be lined up. “Jaime Puig (Cupra manager) wanted to work with us for a long time. One thing is certain, we expect great success. »

To Francois Ribeiro, “Aurélien Panis will benefit from the continuity of his adventure with Comtoyou in 2019. We saw good progress from him in 2018 (a 4th place at Suzuka at the end of the season) and we hope for the same thing in 2019.” Comtoyou Racing will also enter two Audi RS 3 LMS for Frédéric Vervisch and Niels Langeveld.

The start of the season is scheduled for Marrakech (Morocco) on April 6 and 7.
