V8SC – Double blow for James Courtney

James Courtney (Holden Racing Team) did not give in to the pressure exerted throughout the final race of the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide in Australia, by the Holden Commodore of Shane Van Gisbergen's Tekno Autosports. As in 2014, Courtney won the Sunday victory and at the same time took championship lead ahead of Fabian Coulthard, winner of the second race yesterday, and 6th today.

Behind the leading duo is Courtney's teammate, Garth Tander which completes the Holden triumph by placing third ahead of the reigning champion Jamie Whincup (Red Bull Racing Australia) who experienced a turbulent end to the event, after contact with the Ford FG X Falcon of Chaz Mostert (Prodrive). Marcos Ambrose (DJR Team Penske) finished 12th.

The next non-championship V8 Supercars event will take place in Melbourne alongside the Australian Grand Prix. F1, the weekend of March 15.

Find the report of the opening round of the V8 Supercars in issue 2001 of AUTOhebdo, available tomorrow evening in digital version and from next Wednesday on newsstands.
