WTCC-C1: First success for Chilton with Loeb Racing

The Sebastian Loeb Racing shone this Sunday in race 1 in Argentina. Starting from the first row alongside poleman John Filippi (Chevrolet Cruze – Campos Racing), Tom chilton quickly got the better of the Frenchman, also overtaken immediately by the Honda Civic of Tiago Monteiro.

However, the Portuguese lost several positions after turn 4, allowing Filippi, Rob Huff (Honda) and Yvan Muller (Citroën) to move up one place. If the Campos Racing driver will stay in second position for a while, the combined attacks of the Honda Civic and the Citroën C-Elysée will get the better of the good performance of Filippi, who will also lose several positions at the end of the event to finally finish in 10th place.

In front, Tom Chilton will not be worried about the victory, despite the return of Rob Huff, finally rid of Filippi, who will finally fail less than a second on the finish line. Yvan Muller completes the podium ahead of Tiago Monteiro and José Maria Lopez (Citroën). The Argentinian, who started from the back of the grid after an engine change, made another superb comeback in the peloton to finish in 5th position.

Norbert Michelisz (Honda) follows in sixth place ahead of the Chevrolet Cruze of Tom Coronel, the Citroën C-Elysée of Mehdi Bennani, while James Thompson (Chevrolet) and John Filippi complete the top 10.

Thed Björk's first Volvo S60 climbs to 11th position. The Ladas continued their complicated weekend with a thirteenth place for Nicky Catsburg, best representative of the Russian clan. Hugo Valente did not see the finish, victim of engine problems. Early weekend hero Esteban Guerrieri (Chevrolet Cruze) also retired, with Campos Racing mechanics doing their best to prepare the Argentine's car for the main race, where Guerrieri will start from fifth position .
