WTCC – The Yokohama Trophy will return to the independents in 2015

The Yokohama Trophy has evolved this season with the new regulations which split the WTCC peloton into two parts, with on one side the new TC1 models and the old TC2s still in use last year. The drivers entered in the second category were reserved this trophy, thus allowing Eurosport Events to ensure well-stocked grids. However, the departure of TC2 to the European Championship (ETCC) next year has prompted the organizers to plan a step back for next year with a comeback for the independents.

The bonuses will certainly interest the mid-grid teams since a total of €240 will be distributed next year, including €000 offered for each event (€20 for 000st, €8000 for 1nd, €6000 for 2rd , 3000€ for the 3th and 2000€ for the 4th). But Eurosport Events will above all reserve a free registration for the following year for the team which wins the trophy. “After a transition in 2014 with a mix of TC1 and TC2 cars, we will once again support the private TC1 teams next year, offering bonuses, specific rankings, podiums and promotions as Eurosport Events has. successfully done since 2006 with Yokohama », commented François Ribeiro, director of Eurosport Events.
