WTCC – Retirement “still relevant” for Muller

Yvan Muller wanted to respond to rumors concerning his sporting future. After announcing his retirement as a WTCC driver with the end of the Citroën Racing program, the Alsatian was seen behind the wheel of a Volvo S60 in Portimao (Portugal). This private test session gave rise to speculation about a return of the former world champion with the Swedish manufacturer while Polestar Cyan Racing will unveil its crew in two weeks.

The former Citroën Racing resident did not wait for Volvo's announcement to respond to the rumors concerning him.

“In recent days, I have read a lot of things about myself. To put an end to any speculation, I would like to remind you that at the end of last year I announced my desire to end my full-time racing career. It was a carefully considered and voluntary choice, and it is a decision that still stands today.", he said in a press release.

“I have absolutely no intention of repeating a full season as a driver. However, I have always made it clear that it was not impossible that I would get back behind the wheel occasionally, when I felt like it. But today, there is nothing planned. As for my professional future, it has been decided for several months already, but the announcement will be made in due time”, specified Yvan Muller.

The WTCC retiree is now mainly focusing on his M. Racing – YMR team which will enter a Ligier JS P3 and a Norma M30 in ELMS.
