WTCC: Seat withdraws

Seat will not put its world titles on the line in 2010. The decision seemed inevitable for a few weeks, it is now official. The Spanish brand will no longer hire official Seat Leons. On the other hand, it will provide technical support to private teams who choose to run them.

The number of "official" cars in the WTCC is therefore reduced even further, since BMW announced, in December, that it would only enter two cars, which will be driven by Andy Priaulx and Augusto Farfus. Only Chevrolet will do better with three cars, driven by Yvan Muller, Alain Menu and Rob Huff.

« After achieving all possible successes in the WTCC, we will now focus our efforts on customer competition in different championships, such as the WTCC., notes Jaime Puig, director of Seat Sport. We are always keen to win when a Seat is on the track and, to do this, Seat Sport will provide all of its customers with technical support. »
