On the Algarve International Autodrome, which hosts the sixth round of the A1 GP, Frenchman Nicolas Cheers had a studious day of testing.
During the two practice sessions reserved for rookies this morning, the Frenchman set a particularly promising 2nd time. Despite difficult track conditions, he completed his fastest lap in 1:34:676.
During this afternoon's free practice session, he set the 8th best time in 1:32:894. The best time is achieved by the Dutchman Robert Doornbos. Nicolas had to adapt to the particularly changing track conditions. “The circuit is quite unusual and it offered little grip this morning. All the cars were sliding a lot, and we had to adjust the driving accordingly. These conditions made the engineers' task a little difficult, but we improved our performance throughout the day. I finished only 0.5 seconds from the top 3, which makes me pretty confident for the rest of the weekend. There is still a lot of work to do, but we are on the right track. »
See you tomorrow for the qualifications.
