Alguersuari holds on to his victory

Arrived on tiptoe Formula 1, Jaime Alguersuari continues his learning of car by continuing its involvement in Formula Renault 3.5 Series. The Spaniard scored his first podium in the FR 3.5 Series at Le Mans, a podium on which he stood twice at Portimao. The Catalan had a successful day, finishing third in the first race then winning the second.

Jaime Alguersuari, first in qualifying on Friday afternoon, started from pole for the second race but was overtaken by Charles Pic, although weakened by angina. The Frenchman completed the first lap in the lead but went wide in the second, allowing the Spaniard to regain first place. Far from it, Bertrand Baguette is trying to get back to the front of the race. The Belgian takes on Dani Clos and Oliver Turvey to position himself at the foot of the podium. He is ahead of Jaime Algueruari, Charles Pic and Guillaume Moreau.

Jaime Alguersuari escapes in the lead but the appearance of the safety car, in order to clear the cars of Jon Lancaster and Anton Nebylitsky, reduces the Spaniard?s lead to nothing. At the restart, Charles Pic overtook the Catalan, who immediately regained his possession. A few seconds later, Bertrand Baguette lost his 4th place to the untenable Miguel Molina. Guillaume Moreau strives to maintain his place on the podium.

Jaime Alguersuari finally won in the second race at Portimao. The Spaniard thus won his first success in Formula Renault 3.5 Series and moved into third place in the general classification, taking advantage of his three consecutive podiums in the discipline. “ The race was contested, declared the pilot upon arrival. Charles Pic overtook me at the start, then after the Safety Car period, but ultimately I managed to regain the upper hand each time. We had a very good car today, we made further progress. The FR 3.5 Series allows me to gain experience, particularly for F1. »

Second, Charles Pic produced a first-rate performance and confirmed the return of Tech 1 Racing to the forefront. As for Guillaume Moreau, he offers SG Formula its first podium in the discipline. Fifth in the race, Bertrand Baguette consolidates his lead in the Formula Renault 3.5 Series general classification.
