The last race of the season for Nirei Fukuzumi

The final round of this Super Formula season, which took place at Suzuka, saw Nirei Fukuzumi score his second success in the discipline in his career. At the start, overtaken by an excellent start from Tomoki Nojiri (5th on the grid), the #5 Dandelion Racing driver completed the first eleven laps behind the poleman and the leader of the general classification, before returning to the pits to put on new tires. Paying strategy for the former resident of Formula 2 who will benefit from the penalty given to Nobuharu Matsushita and poor tire management from Tomoki Nojiri to take the lead of the race and never leave it again. At the finish of 30 laps, Nirei Fukuzumi is ahead of Ryo Hirakawa (+1″316) and Tomoki Nojiri (+3″709). Giuliano Alesi finished in 8th position, 40 seconds behind the winner, and just behind Sacha Fenestraz. In the general classification, Nirei Fukuzumi climbs to second place, tied on points (55) with Yuhi Sekiguchi.

Nobuharu Matsushita, a costly starting offense

In pole position for the first time this season, Nobuharu Matsushita was given a penalty after a few laps on the track, for having moved 5 centimeters before the lights went out. A disappointment for the #51 driver of the B-Max Racing Team who, stuck at the back of the peloton, will only be able to move up to 12th place. Since the 2nd round of the season, he had always managed to finish in the points zone. In the general classification, the former Formula 2 participant in 2019 finished in 8th place with 33,5 points.

The final ranking of the 7th round of the season:
