A big development for Super Formula. The bodywork expected to adorn the 2023 version of Super Formula was publicly revealed on Wednesday during testing at Suzuka. The championship of car Japanese has been working since the beginning of the year on an improved version of its current SF19 chassis, built by Dallara, and has carried out several tests with two development cars.

The 2023 version of the Super Formula single-seaters include new front and rear wings, redesigned sidepods, a new engine cover and a new floor. While these aerodynamic developments produce approximately 8% less downforce than the current SF19, they reduce dirty air behind a car by up to 50%. With these changes, the Super Formula authorities hope to obtain more spectacle on the track, with more overtaking.

In addition to the new aerodynamic features, next season the Super Formula will use Yokohama tires made from more durable materials. The "new-look" Japanese single-seater was tested by Hiroaki Ishiura and Koudai Tsukakoshi, who traveled more than 8 kilometers to test the various innovations aimed at improving the cars' handling and reducing the series' carbon footprint. The 000 generation is expected to remain in service for three seasons before an entirely new chassis is introduced.
