Reigning SUPER GT champion Sho Tsuboi has distinguished himself as the fastest man in official Super Formula testing at Suzuka.

With just under a month to go before the start of the season at Fuji, Super Formula met this week (March 7 to 8) for official pre-season testing. In the program ? Two days of riding, each divided into two sessions.

At the wheel of the Toyota N°4 of KONDO Racing as in 2021, Sacha Fenestraz rose to 4e ranked during the first session of the week with a lap in 1'35"707. Enough to finish in the same position at the end of the two days of testing. If his Tuesday was marked by his exit from the track in the S which caused a red flag, the Frenchman finished in 8e place of the day with a time of 1'37"037 while his teammate Kenta Yamashita was 7e time of the week in 1'35"878.

Promoted to Super Formula after a first season in Super Formula Lights, Giuliano Alesi could not do better than 14e over the entire two days of driving. The Habs completed his best lap in 1'36"253 while his garage neighbor Ritomo Miyamata finished one place above him with a mark in 1'36"167

Regarding the front-runners, it was Sho Tsuboi, SUPER GT champion in 2021, who dominated these official Super Formula tests at Suzuka. With the No. 38 CERUMO Toyota, the Japanese topped the timesheet with a time of 1'35"470 established during the first outing of the week. Reigning champion, Tomoki Nojiri (Team MUGEN) settled for 2e chrono (1'35"530).

The 2021 Super Formula season will begin with a double-header at Fuju on April 9-10.
