Good deal for Neel Jani

In Kyalami, Bleekemolen started from pole position in the first race of the weekend. He will complete a race alone, without being worried once, and will easily widen the gap to win with more than four seconds ahead of Filipe Albuquerque and Neel Jani at the finish. France only finished in tenth place.

Second place will be much more contested between Albuquerque and Jani. The Swiss took the advantage from the first corner thanks to a better start. The Portuguese, however, quickly recovered second position by achieving better refueling.

Adam Carroll finished fourth after overtaking Clivio Piccione on the last lap, while the Indian Narain Karthikeyan, former driver of F1, takes sixth place.

On the French side, Nicolas Cheers will have had a difficult race. The Frenchman was overtaken by Adrian Zaugg at the start, then by Fairuz Fauzy shortly after. He lost one more place during the pit stops, to the benefit of Earl Bamber, and ultimately only finished tenth.

At the start of the second race, Neel Jani overtook four drivers by taking the outside line. Pole sitter Clivio Piccione, however, managed to keep first place at the start, but he lost it a little later during the first refueling stops. For his part, Nicolas Prost was forced to retire after colliding with the Mexican Salvador Duran on the sixth lap with a broken rear suspension.

The Frenchman still remained positive despite the disappointment: “It's very frustrating to have the speed to play the leading roles and to end the weekend without a point. We had the pace to move forward and owe our disappointments to bad circumstances more than to direct errors. I am sure we will be able to bounce back quickly. »

While Jani escaped in the lead, Piccione had to face the comeback of Felipe Guimaraes, author of a big off-track during qualifying. The Brazilian will end up taking the advantage by taking advantage of a small error from the Monegasque.

At the finish, Jani is ahead of Guimaraes and Piccione, while just behind Bleekemolen, he finishes fourth, ahead of Filipe Albuquerque and the Lebanese Daniel Morad. Danny Watts, Marco Andretti, Zahir Ali and Edoardo Piscopo complete the top 10.

The retirement of Nicolas Prost is not the only one to deplore, since the Irishman Adam Carroll was hit by a driver on the very first lap and was unable to restart, while Earl Bamber was also hit by Fairuz Fauzy after a very good fight.

Following the withdrawal of Carroll, Ireland lost the lead in the championship, to the benefit of Switzerland which took the lead with three points ahead of Ireland, nine over Portugal, 17 over the Netherlands and 32 over France. , who therefore falls one place overall.

The next event will take place from April 20 to 22, on the brand new Algarve circuit, in Portugal.
