Bourdais: “I want to have fun”

What motivated you to go to Superleague Formula?
“For a driver, the Superleague Formula is the best alternative to the F1. It is the only championship in Europe which offers the possibility of riding in car at a professional level. I really believe in the concept of the alliance between motor sports and football. This partnership offers enormous potential. As soon as the championship becomes better known, the Superleague Formula will become essential. »

What was your first impression during your tests with this car?
“The test I was able to do at Magny-Cours allowed me to discover a car that is fun to drive. An F1 is faster because it is lighter. But the V12 makes the car competitive and there is plenty of downforce. »

What is your goal in your first race at Estoril?
“I want to be competitive from the start even if I have only done a few laps and the team is still young in this championship. Winning in my first race won't be easy. I want to have fun because that wasn't often the case this season. »

How will you approach the format of races and qualifying which are specific to Superleague Formula?
“I will discover the qualification system which requires a very tactical approach. For the races, the reverse grid reminds me of Formula Campus. This configuration offers numerous overtaking opportunities which bring a lot of spectacle to the track, especially if the objective is to enter the Super Final. In fact, Superleague Formula reminds me a bit of Champ Car. »

Are you a football fan?
“Without being a real fan, I often go to the stadium to see the Le Mans team and I support the French team during major events. »
