Carlin focuses on GP3

Trevor Carlin, Director of Carlin Motorsport, has announced his decision to end his involvement in the Formula 3 Euro Series. Present this season in Formula Renault 3.5 Series (with Oliver Turvey and Jaime Alguersuari) and in Formula 3 Euro Series (with Brendon Hartley and Jake Rosenzweig), Carlin Motorsport was selected to be one of ten teams to inaugurate the first GP3 Series championship, in 2010.

In order to best prepare for this arrival, in a competitive context where each team will field three cars, Trevor Carlin preferred to throw in the towel in the Formula 3 Euro Series. In this championship, the team only finished in eighth place in the team rankings this season. At Brands Hatch, however, Brendon Hartley allowed Carlin to record his first victory in the discipline.

To explain the lack of performance of his team in the Formula 3 Euro Series, Trevor Carlin thinks that the greater experience of the other teams was decisive, especially in the management of the Kumho tires. In the GP3 Series, the discipline being new, Carlin Motorsport will have the same chance to shine as the other teams.

« I don't expect GP3 to be any easier (that the F3) notes Trevor Carlin, but we cannot fight battles on too many fronts. In GP3, we will start on an equal footing with the other teams. »
