F V8 3.5 – Dillmann snatches the title from Delétraz

Tom Dillmann (AVF) obtained an unexpected result by winning the Formula V8 3.5 title against Louis Delétraz (Fortec Motorsports) at the end of the last race of the 2016 season in Barcelona (Spain), which he won.

With a seven-point gap in favor of the Swiss before the start of the event, the coronation seemed destined for the Swiss driver, especially since he started from pole while the Frenchman only started from 7th. rank. Louis Delétraz lost the title by missing the start of the race while the 2010 ATS champion F3 Cup extended his first stint to take the lead of the race.

“I never wanted to give up until the last race, declared Tom Dillmann before taking the podium. We hoped to have a chance even if we weren't really optimistic after Delétraz's pole. I achieved the goal I set for myself at the start of the season. »

Louis Delétraz was not even able to finish on the podium, being beaten by his teammate Pietro Fittipaldi who had no interest in letting the Swiss pass anyway, Roy Nissany (Lotus) having played into the hands of Tom Dillmann by monopolizing the second place.

Matevos Isaakyan (SMP Racing) had to settle for 5th place after losing time in the pits. Aurélien Panis (Arden Motorsport) took 12th position. Matthieu Vaxivière (SMP Racing) retired.
