FIA F3 – Race 1 interrupted by rain, Vesti winner

Rain was feared. She finally arrived just before the lights went out. Under downpours and on a wet track, the Dane Frédérik Vesti managed to convert his pole into victory, after the race was interrupted on the 15th of the 24 planned laps. The champion of F3 Regional Europe beat the two Trident drivers Lirim Zendeli and David Beckmann to take control of the championship.

Started in 5th position, Theo Pourchaire (ART) did not manage to keep up with the pace of the leading drivers. But in these difficult conditions, the Frenchman had the merit of staying on the track and securing a 9th place which allowed him to score his first points of the season. He will start on the front row on Sunday for race 2, just behind Jack Hugues.

In these weather conditions, the race was understandably very lively. Alexander Smolyar (ART) and Clément Novalak (Carlin) both suffered punctures, while Sebastian Fernandez and Roman Stanek had to retire, leading to the appearance of the safety car, then a red flag and finally the final stop of the race, a few minutes later.
