Perfect weekend for Logan sargeant (Carlin) near Silverstone. Author of pole position on Friday at the end of a session dominated head and shoulders, the American did not give in to Theo Pourchaire (ART Grand Prix) this Sunday, winning the first victory of his career in F2.

On a circuit where he remained on 2 pole positions in F3 in 2020, Logan Sargeant made a very clean copy this Sunday. Author of a good flight, the member of the academy Williams quickly took cover while maintaining his first position in front of a hungry Théo Pourchaire when the lights went out. Starting 4th, the Tricolore moved into 2nd position at turn 1 after overtaking his teammate Frederik Vesti and Felipe Drugovich (MP Motorsport), thus putting pressure on his rival from Carlin.

Despite the presence of the Frenchman in his mirrors, Logan Sargeant showed great control by not making any mistakes that could compromise his race or put him in a bad position against his counterpart. With a nice turn of the wheel, the driver of car No. 6 perfectly ensured the restart after 5 laps behind the safety car, which occurred following the collision between Roy Nissany (DAMS) and Dennis Hauger (Prema) on the 1st lap .

Without much difficulty, Logan Sargeant set his own pace and put Théo Pourchaire outside the DRS zone in order to breathe for the second part. Having passed through the pits at the end of the 2th lap to put on the hard tires, the native of Fort Lauderdale (Florida) returned to the track temporarily in the lead while waiting for the last pit-stops in front of him.

Everything then seemed to fit together perfectly but that was without counting on the return of Théo Pourchaire in the last moments of this Main Race. With a time at 2 seconds, the Grassois returned to the DRS zone with 5 laps to go, thus offering himself the opportunity to prepare an attack. Unfortunately for him and fortunately for Logan Sargeant, the Habs were never going to find the fault in the defense of their rival of the day, letting him slip towards his first victory of the season and of his career. Liam Lawson (Carlin) completed the podium ahead of Felipe Drugovich and Frederik Vesti.

In the championship, Théo Pourchaire takes 6 points from leader Felipe Drugovich but remains at a distance. The two men are separated by 42 units. Logan Sargeant is 3rd with 88 points.

Nissany at fault, Hauger collateral victim

This is the image of this Main Race of the Silverstone meeting. Fighting to enter the Top 10 at the end of the first lap, Roy Nissany went wide at Stowe at the end of the hangar straight. Too much on the attack, the Israeli came back like a cannonball on the track and forced Dennis Hauger to put his wheels on the grass as he approached the last chicane.

In total distress, the last city headed straight towards the gravel trap and harpooned Roy Nissany a few meters further. The images were spectacular since Dennis Hauger passed over his opposite number's car, even hitting his halo. Luckily, more fear than harm for the two men who were immediately able to escape from their car.

Note that the incident will be studied by the race management and it would hardly be surprising to see Roy Nissany penalized on the grid for the next round in Austria in a week's time.
