Renewed by Campos Racing after his 2019 season marked by his terrible accident at Monza, which left him with a vertebrae injury, Alex Peroni gave himself reason to hope this week by setting the absolute best time in the first salvo of FIA testing F3 in Bahrain.
The Australian completed the final session of the afternoon with a reference lap in 1'46″173, improving by almost two tenths the previous time of Liam Lawson (Hitech GP), achieved yesterday.
This Tuesday, Peroni is ahead of HWA Racelab drivers Jake Hughes and Jack Doohan, 27 thousandths and 151 thousandths behind the best time. A day where the long relays, carried out in much less windy conditions than yesterday, took precedence despite the improvement in absolute references.
Theo Pourchaire (ART Grand Prix) ranks 20th and 15th in the two sessions on the menu today, where a neutralization mainly disrupted the proceedings, following Calan's stop on the track Williams (Jenzer).
The FIA F3 drivers will now return to the track from March 20 to 22 for the first round of the championship, still on this Sakhir circuit in Bahrain.
