After missing the opportunity to be crowned at Spa-Francorchamps before the summer break, Gabriel Bortoleto did not have to strive to win the title of champion of F3 in Monza. Pole position and the 2 reward points escaping Pepe Martí (Campos) and Paul Aron (Prema), the Brazilian was able to secure the crown from qualifying on Friday.

For Auriverde, this title meant much more than a trophy rewarding its very good 2023 campaign carried out from start to finish. Indeed, it has rewarded all his efforts as well as those of those around him, he who left his native Brazil to try his luck in Europe a little over 5 years ago now.

« It's an incredible feeling, admitted the 18-year-old neo-champion. I haven't yet realized how important this is, I think I won't realize it until a week from now. It's already a dream come true for me, especially in a season as a rookie, it's very, very special.

It's a lot of sacrifice, a lot of work, a lot of trust from everyone around me and who believe in me, he explains. There are a lot of things to do to win a title. I would say that before the season I had had good results, but I had never been a champion in FRECA or anywhere else, so Trident trusted me, gave me the wheel this season and pushed me to become, let's say, champion. It was very impressive and something that will stay with me for the rest of my life. A lot of people are involved in this story, my coach, the management... I can't thank them enough »

F2 in sight for Gabriel Bortoleto

His 2023 campaign completed in the best possible way, the South American can already prepare for the next one by F2. Gabriel Bortoleto and his entourage will take advantage of the two months of break from the antechamber of the Formula 1 to continue negotiations with the teams. The main person concerned recognized it without revealing anything. Logical when you try to put all the chances on your side to get the best seat possible. After Trident in Formula 3, it would not be surprising to see him try his luck elsewhere in the higher category where the Italian team does not have the same success.

It remains to find a place in a 2024 grid which is slowly starting to fill up, especially among the top teams. To do this, he could perhaps try to freelance in Abu Dhabi, as is often the case for drivers who move up. A team still needs to have a free steering wheel. It is up to him and his representatives to be convincing in the hope of obtaining the best combination for the next exercise.
