  • Nothing ventured, nothing gained. Greeted by a very wet track this Sunday morning, no less than 10 drivers took the risk of starting on wet tires, notably those placed a little further on the grid like Taylor Barnard (Jenzer), 10e before lights out.
  • Initially, this choice immediately paid off in the image of an unleashed Paul Aron (Prema). Party 11e, the Estonian took the lead in the Main Race from the first lap while all of his comrades, using the same strategy as him, also continued to overtake.
  • The strategy was then very clear: open a gap as quickly as possible to possibly go through the pits in the event of a Safety Car to put on the slicks. This is what Paul Aron tried at the end of the 4e lap when the safety car entered the track after the exit of Oliver Goethe (Trident).
  • Ultimately, this choice did not pay off since the Estonian came out around the 10e place offering the lead of the race to Taylor Barnard. Staying on the track with his rain tires, the Englishman then took advantage of a tarmac which did not dry as quickly as expected to preserve his property.
  • Carried by his rain tires which showed great resistance, Taylor Barnard was then able to head straight towards his first victory, even resisting the attacks of Christian Mansell (Campos) in the last laps. Nikita Bedrin completed the podium for the greater good of the Jenzer team, victorious for the first time in F3 since 2019 and the triumph of Yuki tsunoda in Monza.
  • Starting in pole position but on slick tires, Pepe Martí (Campos) saved the furniture with the two points for 9th place just ahead of Franco Colapinto (MP Motorsport).
  • Leader of the championship and with a first match point, Gabriel Bortoleto (Trident) will have to wait to be titled. Having moved up to 11th (starting 15th), the Brazilian failed to finish the weekend with the 40 point lead he needed to win the crown. See you in Monza after the summer break (September 1-3) for the outcome.
