Pedro Piquet (Trident) experienced 17 solo laps. The 21-year-old Brazilian won the first race of the FIA weekend Formula 3 at Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium), taking the lead from the first hectometers. He was never worried, and took advantage of the fights in the peloton to build up a lead of several seconds.
The son of the three-time world champion Formula 1 Nelson Piquet becomes the ninth different man to win at least one FIA F3 event in 2019. He shares the podium with Team Prema's two drivers, championship leader Robert Shwartzman and pole sitter Jehan Daruvala.
This result constitutes a good operation for the Russian, who moved up from sixth place on the starting grid. His main rival, Jüri Vips (HitechGP) could not do better than fifth.
Despite numerous touches during the first lap, only one competitor abandoned, Alexander Peroni (Campos Racing).
