  • We had to be reactive in this Sprint Race this Saturday because everything, or almost everything, was decided at the start at Spa-Francorchamps.
  • The big winner was Caio Collet (VAR). Placed in 4e position on the grid, the Brazilian made an excellent start, getting rid of Paul Aron (Prema), Taylor Barnard (Jenzer) and “poleman” Hugh Barter (Campos) to take the lead under braking at Les Combes.
  • From then on, the Sprint Race entered into a false rhythm, greatly disrupted by incidents on the track since the safety car intervened three times. The last intervention after the stop of Gabriel Bortoleto (Trident) in the Kemmel straight even put an end to the event since the competitors completed the last 4 laps behind the Safety Car, notably because of the appearance of rain on certain sectors of the Belgian route.
  • In the end, there were only two short laps out of twelve contested under green flag which allowed Caio Collet to win ahead of Taylor Barnard and Paul Aron. Zak O'Sullivan (Prema) and Jonny Edgar (MP Motorsport) completed the Top 5.
  • Author of pole position this Friday, Pepe Martí (Campos) was forced to retire. Hit by Gabriele Mini (Hitech GP), the Spaniard wanted to return to the track but did not see Ido Cohen (Carlin) arriving at Pouhon and was therefore unable to avoid contact. Bad news for him since he should be sanctioned on the grid of the Main Race and therefore lose his pole position.
  • Note that this Sprint Race had been reduced from 15 to 12 laps due to Pirelli's fears regarding the degradation of the medium tires brought to Belgium. Ditto for the Main Race this Sunday (8:30 a.m.) which goes from 18 to 15 loops.
  • With only two laps completed without the intervention of the Safety Car, no points will be awarded at the end of this Sprint Race as stipulated in the regulations. Bad news for Nikola Tsolov (ART Grand Prix) who arrived in the points for the first time this year thanks to his 8th place.
