This first race of F3 of the weekend felt like a big lottery. After the start of the event marked by rain and the start of which was given behind the Safety Car, Oliver Goethe (Campos) was unable to take advantage of his pole position. Attacked from all sides, the German saw Franco Colapinto (VAR), Caio Collet (MP Motorsport) and Isack Hadjar (Hitech GP) ahead of him from the first moments.
Oliver Goethe sidelined, Franco Colaptino, Caio Collet and Isack Hadjar launched into a 3-way battle for victory. It was first the VAR driver who took control of the Sprint Race. Under threat from his counterparts, the Argentinian held on until the 10the turn, moment chosen by Caio Collet to attack.
After stumbling for a few moments against Franco Colapinto, the Brazilian managed to gain the upper hand over his rival at 10e lap thanks to a better rhythm. Very comfortable on a drying Hungaroring after starting the race in the rain, Caio Collet left nothing to chance afterwards. Fast lap after fast lap, the Auriverde dropped the Argentinian and was able to reach the finish with almost 9 seconds in advance, thus signing his first victory in F3. Kush Maini completed the podium giving MP Motorsport a double presence on the box.
Hadjar takes the reins of the championship
Long a contender for victory, Isack Hadjar experienced a difficult end to the race losing numerous places after notably going wide at turn 2. Falling back to 6th, the Ile-de-France native was then virtually tied on points with Victor Martins (ART Grand Prix) in leading the championship but various events allowed him to grab positions a few seconds from the checkerboard.
In ambush behind the Prema Jak Crawford-Arthur Leclerc duo, Isack Hadjar took advantage of the collision between the two teammates three corners from the finish to move up to 4th position while Victor Martins was hampered by Leclerc and was unable to get back up. beyond 6th place.
Fourth under the checkerboard, Isack Hadjar carried out the perfect operation since his result allowed him to take control of the championship ahead of Victor Martins. The member of Red Bull Junior Team is now a small point ahead of its compatriot.
