Doriane Pin after her F3 test: “An extraordinary day”

After W Academy pilots Nerea Marti and Irina Sidorkova on Tuesday, the two Iron Dames pilots Dorian Pin and Maya Weug took part in the first testing day of their lives in a Formula 3, Wednesday, in Nièvre (Magny-Cours). In cars loaned by Prema Racing for the occasion, the two young women discovered the category, supported by the reigning champion Dennis Hauger, who played the role of coach and reference driver, and by Julien Gilbert, the coach of the Magny-Cours flying school.

“It was an incredible day, confided the Frenchwoman at the end of the two test sessions on Wednesday. This is a new car for me. There is so much aero downforce and speed. I really appreciated. I was able to progress thanks to the supervision in place. I'm very happy and I'm sure it will help me in the future.

Like their male counterparts during the official pre- and post-season F3 tests, the two young women benefited from three sets of new tires for the day. On the program for the morning, a few installation laps and a qualifying run, before long runs in the afternoon as well as a new qualifying simulation. “Maya and Doriane did a good job, testified Didier Perrin, the technical director of the championship who was in charge of technical support for the day. They were very attentive to every detail, and quickly showed themselves at ease in the car ».

As a reminder, this test day was not a shootout aimed at pitting one driver against the other. The session was organized to promote and encourage the accession of women to the highest levels of motorsport, by giving them their foot in the door so that they can, when they wish and/or can, arrive in Formula 3 in the best conditions. Author of a great season in GT with Iron Dames, Doriane Pin is in any case not closing the door to a future in single-seaters. “I don’t really know what my future will hold at the moment, she said. The GT season was superb, in contact with very efficient people. We had good results all year. I am happy to have been able to race in a single-seater today, but it is still too early for me to know what I will do in 2022. It's hard to imagine that such a day doesn't make him want to take the switch to single-seaters.
