Doriane Pin: “Testing an F3 is a great opportunity”

On November 9 and 10, the Frenchwoman will take part in a day of Formula 3 testing on the Magny-Cours circuit, like Maya Weug, Irina Sidorkova and Nerea Marti. Beyond sharing her enthusiasm before getting behind the wheel, the Francilienne welcomes the initiative of the FIA, the W Academy and the Iron Dames program to highlight female drivers in single-seaters.

How do you feel about trying a Formula 3 for the first time ?

I feel a lot of enthusiasm. Only a few drivers today have the chance to test an F3. This test will be very enriching and it is necessarily a great opportunity for me. I would like to thank FIA F3 and Deborah Mayer (Founder of Iron Dames) for making this possible.

What do you think of this initiative allowing four young women, including yourself, to test in Formula 3?

It's a great initiative to show everyone, and therefore all the management around us, that as young women, we also have the potential to do great things in the future, and that the only goal that drives us is to win.

This year, you took the GT turn. Does this mean that you still have the ambition to ride in car next year ?

The Iron Dames project, supported by Iron Lynx, offers many opportunities as they are involved in several racing programs with different cars like the Ferrari Challenge, the Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo, the Ferrari 488 GTE, the F4 and next season also in LMP2 with Prema. The only thing I know is that it's the perfect place to perform. Over the next month, we will decide together our plans for the upcoming season!

How will you prepare for this test? Using a simulator?

We have already worked on the Iron Lynx simulator in fact, to prepare for the test. I also work with embedded videos. Preparation is really important, because I really need to be ready when I get in the car for the first time.

What a long way we’ve come, in any case, since the FIA Girls on Track final…

Indeed ! After finishing 2nd in the FIA Girls On Track – Rising Stars selection at the start of the year, I had the opportunity to test a 488 Ferrari Challenge Evo at Mugello with the Iron Lynx team. Following this test, I was given a fantastic opportunity to join the Iron Dames project, which is created and run by Deborah Mayer. After the trial, they decided to join the Michelin championship Le Mans Cup with a Ferrari 488 GT3 Evo that I shared first with Sarah Bovy then with Manuela Gostner with whom we finished 3rd in the championship. We achieved fantastic results during the season such as our first podium at Le Castellet, second place at Monza, third at Le Mans and Spa. Unfortunately, we were unable to finish our last race in Portimao (October 22-24), where we were leading the race until we had to abandon due to a technical problem. I also had the chance to participate in two GT World Challenge championship races Endurance with Sarah Bovy and Katherine Legge at Paul Ricard then with Sarah and Michelle Gatting for the last round in Barcelona. It was an incredible season in which I learned a lot and I couldn't have ended it in a better way: testing an F3 single-seater and taking part in the final race of the Ferrari Challenge Europe at Mugello.
