The first driver on the grid F3 2022 has just been announced, and it is, without much surprise, the talented Swiss driver from the ART Grand Prix team, Grégoire Saucy. Just crowned champion of FRECA (European Regional Formula Championship by Alpine) with the French team, Saucy has also just distinguished itself in free practice for its future category in Valencia, by setting the best time of the week after three days of driving.

Confirmation after the title in FRECA

If the promotion of the 21-year-old driver was in little doubt within ART Grand Prix, he is still the first driver on the grid confirmed for 2022. A great mark of confidence on the part of the French stable:

» After two years of fruitful collaboration, concluded by obtaining the first title in the history of the Formula Regional European Championship by Alpine in 2021, ART Grand Prix really wanted to take a new step with Greg (Saucy), assures Sébastien Philippe, the team principal of the team. He showed the full extent of his talent and maturity in 2021 and on top of that, we got to know and appreciate each other on both a personal and sporting level. I am delighted and looking forward to writing this new chapter in our collaboration.”

Author of 8 victories and as many pole positions in 20 FRECA races this season, Grégoire Saucy showed what ART trusts him for, during the F3 tests on the Valencia track. On the last day of riding, the Swiss set the best time of the week (1'21'300). An encouraging performance for the rookie, who cannot hide his joy after this morning officialization.

» I am honored and happy to continue the adventure with a team as fantastic as ART Grand Prix, said the young pilot. It’s a continuation after our great year 2021. I know the team and how it works, and it will be a very valuable asset to prepare for next season. I would like to thank my sponsors for this opportunity. The Valencia test went very well, although I had a lot of new settings to work on. That said, it's way too early to set goals because I still have a lot to learn. I look forward to taking the next steps in my preparation.”

As a reminder, three drivers are lined up each season (and per team) on the Formula 3 grid. Victor Martins (France), Oliver Rasmussen (Denmark) and Juan Manuel Correa (United States) also drove with the car of the French team during the Valence tests, and could see their name associated with that of Grégoire Saucy soon. To be continued.
