Jehan Daruvala returns to success in FIA F3

Since Spa in 2018, in the FIA European Championship F3, Jehan Daruvala (Prema Racing) had no longer achieved success at this level. End of famine for the Indian, winner this Sunday in the sprint race in Barcelona in the new FIA F3.

Daruvala built his success by getting the better of pole sitter Niko Kari (Trident) at the first corner. A little further in the peloton, a collision at turn 2 involving Jake Hughes (HWA), Guanyu-Zhou (Uni-Virtuosi), Artem Petrov (Jenzer) and Raoul Hyman (Sauber Junior Team by Charouz) force the safety car onto the track.

The Safety Car faded at the end of the 5th lap... before returning to action less than five laps later after the elimination of Simo Laaksonen (MP Motorsport), pushed into the wall by Alex Peroni (Campos Racing), who was returning to the correct trajectory after going offshore.

The race was restarted at the end of the 11th lap with Daruvala still in the lead ahead of Kari. If Daruvala will not be worried about the victory, the fight for the podium will offer much more action, with Niko Kari, Max Fewtell (ART Grand Prix), Juri Vips (Hitech GP) and the residents of Prema Racing Robert Shwartzman and Marcus Armstrong.

It was ultimately Vips who took the second step on the podium after overtaking Kari two laps from the goal when braking for the first corner. Shwartzman, winner in race 1, finished 4th ahead of Armstrong, after taking the lead two laps from the finish.

Christian Lundgaard (ART Grand Prix) took 6th place ahead of his teammates David Beckmann and Max Fewtrell who plunged in the standings throughout the event.
